Regina Spektor Cancels Tour After Positive Coronavirus Test
Regina Spektor has cancelled her remaining 2022 tour dates after testing positive for COVID-19. In an Instagram post, Spektor said she has lost her voice and has “gone from feeling bad, to worse, to terrible.” She had 10 concerts left on the tour in support of her new album, Home, before and after.
“After being so careful and miraculously avoiding it for over 2.5 years, I came down with a bad case of Covid,” her post reads. “I’m so sorry to everyone who bought tickets and was coming to see me in their town. I have gone from feeling bad, to worse, to terrible. I’ve lost my voice. I am a bit delirious from fever, so in advance I apologize if this note isn’t too coherent. I have had a really hard time lately, and all your love has been helping me so much. I hope mine reaches you as well. For now– I will have to sing to you from past recordings, and we will reschedule the shows for when the theaters are able to have me back.”
Spektor released her latest studio album, Home, before and after, back in June. It includes the new single Becoming All Alone and fan-favourite Loveology. “With Loveology, I wrote it and then played it once or twice live,” Spektor shared in a statement at the time of release. “Sometimes I’ll have a song that I’m really glad exists, but I can’t record it because every time I try, it just doesn’t feel right coming out of my mouth. But for whatever reason, both Loveology’ and ‘Raindrops felt so right this time, and I’m so glad I was finally able to put them on a record.”
In August, Spektor reissued her debut album 11:11 alongside a collection of live recordings from her early days in New York City.
