Blur fans are anxiously waiting for confirmation that the band’s Wembley Stadium shows will go ahead as planned after news that drummer Dave Rowntree has injured his knee.

The band were forced to pull out of their headline slot at France’s Festival Beauregard in Château de Beauregard on Thursday due to the musician’s injury.
In a translation from French, a post on the Festival Beauregard Twitter account read: “The bad news has just fallen: Blur will not be able to perform their concert in Beauregard.
“Dave Rowntree, the drummer, was injured this weekend and must rest for future shows”.
In light of the announcement, it has been confirmed that Royal Blood will take Blur’s place at the music festival.
Blur are yet to publicly comment on the injury or the festival date.
Last week the band released St Charles Square, the latest track to be released from their highly-anticipated brand new album The Ballad of Darren, out 21 July on Parlophone.
Damon Albarn said of the track, “St Charles Square is a place where the ghosts of monsters can be found.”
The Wembley shows are due to take place this weekend (8 and 9 July). The band are planning to welcome old friend and special guest Phil Daniels for a very special guest appearance on both nights at Wembley Stadium, with Sleaford Mods on the planned line-up for the sold-out Saturday 8 July along with critically acclaimed English singer-songwriter and Mercury Prize nominee Self Esteem and London-based electro-pop duo Jockstrap.
Unless there is further news on Rowntree’s injury. Sunday 9 July will see Paul Weller and The Selecter open for Blur, with DJs Steve Davis and John Doran & Kavus Torabi also set to entertain the crowds at what promises to be two unmissable summer nights in the capital.
