Neil Young To Release ‘Time Fades Away’ 50th Anniversary Edition
Neil Young will mark the 50th anniversary of his 1973 live album Time Fades Away with the 3 November release of Time Fades Away 50, a new limited edition clear vinyl version of the record.
This definitive nine-song iteration of the album contains the bonus track Last Trip To Tulsa, which originally appeared on the Archives Vol. II box set and now appears on vinyl for the first time ever.

Time Fades Away was unusual for a live album in that it featured previously unreleased songs. At a time when the Young’s popularity was surging following his highly successful studio album Harvest, the new live album raised questions and even Young responded at the time, “Time Fades Away was the worst record I ever made, but as a documentary of what was happening to me it was a great record.”
For the Time Fades Away tour, Young was joined by The Stray Gators, featuring Jack Nitzsche (keyboards), Ben Keith (pedal steel guitar), Kenny Buttrey (drums), to be replaced by Johnny Barbata; and bassist Tim Drummond, joined by David Crosby and Graham Nash on harmony vocals and acoustic guitar.
Time Fades Away was allowed to go out of print and was not released on CD until 2017. It later formed part of the Official Release Series Discs 5-8 Vinyl Box Set collection, released on Record Store Day in 2014. The live recordings from this tour are typical of the sense of adventure that runs through the recording career of someone who often takes the less travelled road.
