Daft Punk have shared their demo of Infinity Repeating featuring The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas. The track features on the expanded, 10th anniversary edition of the French duo’s Random Access Memories and you can check it out below.

Ten years after the since-disbanded electronic disco duo Daft Punk (made up of Thomas Bangaltar and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo) first dropped Random Access Memories, they’ve shared the 10th Anniversary Edition to commemorate the album’s original release.

Included in the reissue are outtakes, tests, and unreleased material like the demo Infinity Repeating, which features a collaboration between the Strokes’ frontman Julian Casablancas and the Voidz. Casablancas also leant his musical talents to one other track on the original album, the song Instant Crush.

Alongside the first ever release of the Julian Casablanca + The Voidz collaborative demo Infinity Repeating, comes the release of a music video written and directed by Warren Fu and produced by Partizan Studio and Ryan Reichenfeld. Executive producers include Angela Foster and Sara Nix. Elissa Nechamkin and Jonah Higaonna were associate producers.

In a three part act rendition of the evolution of man, Infinity Repeating initially begins as a flipbook style animation. From there, Daft Punk’s video dances along the fine line of artistic and futuristic development.

As it incorporates popping colours and incites curiosity about the perception of the human form, however, the video also introduces the concept of man becoming machine: transformed into a 3D design, humanity’s representational avatar escapes the physical plane to exist in and take on the characteristics of a data-designed world.

Other new material of the 10th Anniversary Edition of Random Access Memories includes GL (Early Take) featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers and the unfinished 2012 song Prime.

Daft Punk first premiered Infinity Repeating at Paris’ Pompidou Center this Thursday (11 May). The Pompidou Center has a special place in Daft Punk’s history: in 1992, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo attended their first rave at the museum when they were still teenagers.
